Objective
This article explains how to download a selection of files directly from the CrashPlan web console to your current device. This method, known as a Zip file restore, is ideal for quickly retrieving a few files when you are away from your primary device.
Prerequisites
- You must have access to a web browser and your CrashPlan account credentials.
- Zip file restores are subject to your organization's web restore size limit setting. If your selection exceeds this limit, you must restore files from the CrashPlan app instead.
Administrators can also push a device restore as an alternative to restoring from the app. - You can only restore from cloud destinations in the CrashPlan console. To restore from a local destination, you use the CrashPlan app instead.
Procedure
- Open a web browser and sign in to the CrashPlan console.
- Navigate to Administration > Devices.
- Locate the device containing the files you want to restore.
- Click the Restore icon
in the right column.
The Web Restore dialog box opens. - For Restore target, select Zip file.
- Select the checkboxes next to the files or folders you want to restore from the file tree.

A "Web Restore Finished" message will appear in the lower-left side of the CrashPlan console once the files are prepared. - Click Click here to download in the lower-left corner of the page.
A ZIP file containing your restored files will download in your web browser.
