Sign in to CrashPlan

You sign in to the CrashPlan app and the CrashPlan console with your email address, as well as additional credentials depending on your account's sign-in configuration:

  • CrashPlan account password: You enter your password on the sign-in page, followed by a two-factor authentication (2FA) code if your organization uses 2FA.
  • Single sign-on (SSO): The sign-in page sends you to your organization's identity provider, where you sign in with your organization's credentials.

Requirements

  • Web browser: The latest desktop version of a browser listed in CrashPlan hardware and software requirements. The CrashPlan app uses your operating system's default browser when signing in, so that browser must be one of the supported browsers.
  • Two-factor authentication: If 2FA is turned on, your authenticator app or access to your email is required, depending on the method chosen. The two methods are described in How two-factor authentication works in CrashPlan.

Sign in from the CrashPlan app

The CrashPlan app completes sign-in in your default web browser.

  1. Open the CrashPlan app.
  2. Enter your email address and click Continue. The app opens the CrashPlan sign-in page in your default web browser.
  3. Complete the sign-in in the browser:
    • Account password: Enter your password, and your 2FA code if CrashPlan asks for one, then click Sign in.
    • SSO: Sign in to your organization's identity provider.
  4. Return to the CrashPlan app. The app signs in automatically once the browser sign-in is complete.

If you are signed in to the CrashPlan console as one user, you cannot sign in to the CrashPlan app as another user. You will be required to sign out of the CrashPlan console to complete the app sign-in. To use the CrashPlan app with a different account, sign out of the app first.

Sign in from a web browser

In a web browser, the general CrashPlan console address forwards you to the sign-in page for the CrashPlan cloud that holds your account.

  1. Go to https://console.crashplan.com.
  2. Enter your email address. CrashPlan forwards you to your account's sign-in page, such as https://console.us2.crashplan.com.
  3. Complete the sign-in:
    • Account password: Enter your password, and your 2FA code if CrashPlan asks for one, then click Sign in.
    • SSO: Sign in to your organization's identity provider.

After 2FA is turned on, or after your 2FA is reset, CrashPlan asks you to choose and set up a 2FA method before the sign-in completes. The setup is described in Set up two-factor authentication.

If you cannot sign in

Common sign-in problems, including a forgotten password, an unavailable authenticator, a reset email that does not arrive, and errors in the CrashPlan app, each have an entry in Troubleshoot signing in to CrashPlan.

To reset your password, see Change or reset your CrashPlan account password.

To reset your two-factor authentication, see Reset or change your two-factor authentication.

If your organization uses SSO, contact your CrashPlan administrator.
