CrashPlan hardware and software requirements

Overview

This article details the hardware and software requirements needed to run the CrashPlan console and CrashPlan app.

CrashPlan console requirements

  • Minimum resolution: 1024x768
  • Web browsers: Latest desktop versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge (mobile web browsers are not supported).

CrashPlan app requirements

The following are the minimum system requirements to run the CrashPlan app. Depending on your usage, the app may require additional resources to operate optimally.

  • Operating system: See Operating system support and lifecycle.
  • Minimum hardware:
    • 2 GHz 64-bit processor
    • 2 GB memory
    • 2 GB drive space
  • Minimum display resolution: 960x780
  • Internet connection: An active internet connection is required for core functions, including signing in, backing up and restoring files, and modifying account settings.
  • Desktop environment: The CrashPlan app requires a graphical user interface (GUI) to run on all supported operating systems. Headless configurations are not supported.

ARM processor support

The CrashPlan app only supports running on ARM processors in the following environments:

  • Windows in Compatibility mode
  • Macs with Apple M-series chips
