Restoring files in the CrashPlan app

Objective

This article walks you through the steps required to download one or more files directly from the CrashPlan application to your local device.

Prerequisites

  • The CrashPlan app must be installed.
  • An active internet connection is required to sign in to the CrashPlan app, as well as restore from cloud destinations.

Procedure

  1. Open and sign in to the CrashPlan app.
  2. Click Restore Files.
  3. Select the device backup you want to restore from.
    This step only applies if you have multiple devices on your account.
  4. Select the backup destination from the Restore files from menu.
    This step only applies if you back up to multiple destinations.
  5. Navigate through the file tree and select the checkboxes next to the folders and files you want to restore.

    Shortcut: Restoring a single file
    If you only need to restore a single file, you can skip the remaining steps by hovering your mouse over the file and clicking the download icon download-icon-export.png. The file is restored to your Downloads folder.

  6. Click Restore Files.
  7. Review and specify your desired options for restore location, filename conflict handling, and permissions.

  8. Click Go.
    Your download is added to the Downloads menu. The Download Activity window displays the status of your download.
