Changing or resetting your CrashPlan password

Objective

This article describes how to change your existing CrashPlan account password or request a password reset if you have forgotten your current password.

Prerequisites

  • Local Authentication: This procedure only applies to users who authenticate directly through the CrashPlan console. If your organization uses single sign-on (SSO) or LDAP, you cannot change your password with the CrashPlan console. Contact your system administrator to update your SSO/LDAP credentials.

Procedure

Changing your password (if your current password is known)

Use these steps to update your password from within the CrashPlan console.

  1. Sign in to the CrashPlan console.
  2. Hover over the Account menu icon Account_top_nav.png in the upper-right corner.
  3. Click on your name to navigate to your user details.
  4. Click the action menu Action_Menu.png.
  5. Select Edit.
  6. Enter your old password, new password, and re-enter your new password.
  7. Click Update User.

Resetting a forgotten password

Use this procedure if you cannot sign in to your account and need to reset your password via email.

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to the password reset page for your cloud region or environment:
  2. Enter your email address.
  3. Click Reset Password.
  4. Check your email and follow the password reset instructions provided in the message.
