CrashPlan app does not open a web browser during sign-in

Problem

After entering your username in the CrashPlan app and clicking Continue, the app accepts the username but fails to automatically open your default web browser to complete the remainder of the sign-in process.

Environment

  • CrashPlan app

Resolution

First, return to the CrashPlan app and click the Retry button. The CrashPlan app will attempt to open your default web browser again.

If your browser still fails to open, follow these steps to bypass the issue:

  1. In the CrashPlan app, click the Copy button to copy the secure URL used to sign in.
  2. Open your preferred web browser manually and paste the URL into the address bar.
  3. Complete the web sign in process in your browser.
  4. After you successfully sign in via the web, return to the CrashPlan app. It will log in automatically.
