Question
Is the CrashPlan app able to compare the files being downloaded with the files in the restore location, and skip any files which already exist?
Answer
Yes. When restoring files to a location that already contains files with the same name, the CrashPlan app provides multiple file conflict handling options to control how duplicate files are managed.
The available options include:
- Rename existing and restore a copy (recommended)
CrashPlan keeps the restored file name unchanged and renames the existing file on your device by adding the prefixoriginal1. - Replace the file on this device
CrashPlan replaces the existing file on your device with the restored version. - Do not restore the file (CrashPlan App only)
CrashPlan skips restoring files when duplicate file names are detected and leaves the existing files unchanged. - Protect my newer files – skip newer (CrashPlan App only)
CrashPlan compares file timestamps and skips restoring files if the existing file on your device is newer than the version being restored. - Protect my older files – skip older (CrashPlan App only)
CrashPlan compares file timestamps and skips restoring files if the existing file on your device is older than the version being restored.
Any skipped files are listed in the restore summary after the restore operation is completed.
