Operating system support and lifecycle

Overview

This article lists the operating systems (OSs) that the CrashPlan app supports and the anticipated date when support will end.

General OS support policies

  • Vendor support required: The CrashPlan app is only supported on operating systems actively supported by their vendors. We do not support operating systems past their end-of-support date, including those receiving patches through extended security update programs.
  • Beta OS versions: The CrashPlan app is not supported on pre-release or beta operating systems.
  • New OS releases: We aim to add support for new operating systems in the first app release after the OS reaches general availability.

Supported operating systems

The following operating systems are currently supported for the CrashPlan app.

 Compatible vs. Supported app versions
CrashPlan app versions that are technically compatible may no longer be supported. For details about currently supported CrashPlan app versions, see Supported app versions and automatic upgrades.

Windows

The CrashPlan app is supported on computers running Windows operating systems until the end of the Enterprise and Education editions support lifecycle. The Windows lifecycle is typically 18 months from release date. For details on the support lifecycle for Windows, see Microsoft's Windows lifecycle fact sheet
