Change or reset your CrashPlan account password

Your CrashPlan account password is the password you enter on the sign-in page, for both the CrashPlan app and the CrashPlan console. Change it from your user details in the console when you know your current password, or reset it by email when you do not.

If you sign in with single sign-on (SSO), your organization's identity provider manages your password, so contact your administrator to change or reset it.

Change your password

Changing your CrashPlan account password requires your current password.

  1. Sign in to the CrashPlan console.
  2. Hover over the Account menu icon Account menu icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Click your name to open your user details.
  4. Click the action menu Action menu icon and select Edit.
  5. Enter your current password, then enter your new password twice.
  6. Click Update User.

Reset a forgotten password

A CrashPlan account password reset asks only for your email address, with no two-factor authentication (2FA) code.

  1. Go to https://console.crashplan.com.
  2. Enter your email address. CrashPlan opens the sign-in page for the CrashPlan cloud where your account is located, such as https://console.us2.crashplan.com.
  3. Click Forgot Password.
  4. Enter your email address and click Reset Password.
  5. Open the email from noreply@crashplan.com and follow the instructions in it.

If you also need to reset your CrashPlan 2FA, reset your password first. The 2FA reset page asks for your password and sends an email only when that password is correct, as described in Reset or change your two-factor authentication.

A password reset email that does not arrive is usually held by a spam filter, and the other causes are listed in Troubleshoot signing in to CrashPlan.
