Opening the CrashPlan app

Objective

This article walks you through the steps required to open the CrashPlan application on your Windows, Mac, or Linux device.

Prerequisites

Procedure

Follow the steps for your device's operating system.

Windows

  • To open the CrashPlan app from the Windows menu:
    1. Click the Windows menu in the lower-left corner (or press the Windows key on your keyboard).
    2. Click All apps (or type "CrashPlan" in the Windows search field).
    3. Select CrashPlan.
  • To open the CrashPlan app from the Windows notification area:
    1. Click the up-arrow icon in the lower-right corner to expand the notification area.
    2. Click the CrashPlan icon.
    3. Click the gear icon.
    4. Select Open CrashPlan.  

Mac

  • To open the CrashPlan app from the Applications folder:
    1. Open Finder. 
    2. Select Applications (in the left column).
    3. Double-click CrashPlan.
  • To open the CrashPlan app from the menu bar:
    1. Click the CrashPlan icon.
    2. Click the gear icon.
    3. Select Open CrashPlan.
  • To open the CrashPlan app with Spotlight:
    1. Press Command+Space bar to open the Spotlight search bar.
    2. Type CrashPlan.
    3. Select the CrashPlan app from the list of applications. 

Linux

  1. Open Terminal.
  2. Enter the following command:

    /usr/local/crashplan/bin/desktop.sh
  3. Press Enter.
