Objective
This article walks you through the steps required to open the CrashPlan application on your Windows, Mac, or Linux device.
Prerequisites
- The CrashPlan app must be installed on your device.
Procedure
Follow the steps for your device's operating system.
Windows
- To open the CrashPlan app from the Windows menu:
- Click the Windows menu in the lower-left corner (or press the Windows key on your keyboard).
- Click All apps (or type "CrashPlan" in the Windows search field).
- Select CrashPlan.
- To open the CrashPlan app from the Windows notification area:
- Click the up-arrow icon in the lower-right corner to expand the notification area.
- Click the CrashPlan icon.
- Click the gear icon.
- Select Open CrashPlan.
Mac
- To open the CrashPlan app from the Applications folder:
- Open Finder.
- Select Applications (in the left column).
- Double-click CrashPlan.
- To open the CrashPlan app from the menu bar:
- Click the CrashPlan icon.
- Click the gear icon.
- Select Open CrashPlan.
- To open the CrashPlan app with Spotlight:
- Press Command+Space bar to open the Spotlight search bar.
- Type
CrashPlan. - Select the CrashPlan app from the list of applications.
Linux
- Open Terminal.

/usr/local/crashplan/bin/desktop.sh
- Press Enter.
