Creating a CrashPlan Help Center account

Objective

This article explains how to create a user account for the CrashPlan Help Center. Creating an account provides several benefits, including:

  • Tracking the status of your open support requests.
  • Expediting the submission of new support tickets.
  • Subscribing to receive notifications about new Announcements posted to the Help Center.

Important note about Help Center accounts
Your CrashPlan Help Center account is completely separate from the account you use to log into CrashPlan products. Your standard CrashPlan login credentials will not work for signing in to the Help Center. However, we highly recommend using the same email address for both accounts so our support team can easily locate your backup environment and assist you faster.

Procedure

Follow the steps below that best match your situation.

Option 1: You're new to CrashPlan Support

Use these steps if you have never contacted CrashPlan Support before.

  1. Navigate to the CrashPlan Help Center.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Sign in.
  3. In the sign-in window, click the Sign up link.
  4. Enter your full name and your email address.
We recommend using the same email address associated with your CrashPlan account.
  5. Click Sign up.
  6. Check your email inbox for a verification email from the Help Center.
  7. Click the verification link in the email to create a password and complete your account registration.

Option 2: You've contacted CrashPlan Support before

Use these steps if you have previously contacted our support team but have never actually logged into the Help Center website. Because you have contacted us, our system already recognizes your email address, but you need to create a password before you can sign in.

  1. Navigate to the CrashPlan Help Center.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Sign in.
  3. In the sign-in window, click the Request password link.
  4. Enter the email address you previously used to contact our support team.
  5. Click Submit.
  6. Check your email inbox for a password creation link.
  7. Click the link in the email to create a password and access your Help Center account.
