Error 'Logged out by authority' when signing in to the CrashPlan app

Problem

When attempting to sign in to the CrashPlan app, you receive the "Logged out by authority" error message.

Cause

This error typically occurs when an active sign-in session token expires or becomes out of sync with the authentication server.

Resolution

In most cases, you can resolve this by forcing the app to refresh your credentials:

  1. On the error screen in the CrashPlan app, click Sign in with a different account.
  2. Enter your username and try the sign-in process again.

If the issue persists:

  1. Ensure that your username and device are currently active and have not been deactivated or blocked by your administrator.
  2. If your account is active and you still cannot sign in, contact support for further assistance.
