Integrate CrashPlan with ConnectWise Asio

Overview

CrashPlan is pleased to offer an certified integration for Asio on the ConnectWise marketplace. This article will show you how to connect your CrashPlan environment to Asio and map your organizations to "companies" to allow you to seamlessly deploy, manage, and monitor CrashPlan within Asio.

This integration is not offered for ConnectWise Automate™

Requirements

You must have organizations created within CrashPlan and company entities created within Asio in order for the integration to function. Whether they are newly created or have existed prior to the integration, they need to meet the following specifications.

CrashPlan

  • A valid top-level organization for each Asio company you wish to map. You can't connect an organization to more than one Asio company.
  • Each organization must have its own deployment policy in place.

Asio

  • A ConnectWise Asio account, fully configured with necessary sites and endpoints.
  • The CrashPlan integration installed via the Asio integrations marketplace.
  • A valid company for each CrashPlan organization you wish to map. You can't connect an Asio company to more than one CrashPlan organization.

Currently, the CrashPlan integration in Asio only supports top-level mapping for organizations and companies, so child organizations and specific sites can't be individually mapped or assigned policies.

Steps

Connect CrashPlan to Asio via an API client

To allow CrashPlan to communicate with Asio, you'll need to create a new API client inside the CrashPlan console.

  1. Create a new API client with Org read permission.
  2. On the Asio platform, open the sidebar and navigate to Integrations > My Integrations, select CrashPlan, and click Integrate.
  3. From the CrashPlan console, copy the newly created ClientID, Client Secret, and Cloud URL link, then click Test Connection to verify the credentials.
  4. Once connected, click the acknowledgement checkbox to grant API access to CrashPlan and click Save and Proceed.

The API Client secret is only displayed when setting up API Client for the first time

You can either reset your secret key or create a new API Client and repeat the setup process. Resetting a secret immediately stops authentication of any API integration or script using the previous secret.

Map CrashPlan organizations to Asio companies

After connecting to the API Client, you'll be prompted to set up mapping inside Asio. To assist with mapping if you have a large number of Asio companies, you can search by company name and filter by mapping status. You may also click Skip if you wish to map your records at a later time.

  1. On the right of the Asio Company column, choose the desired CrashPlan organization name under the Company column.
If you don't wish to map a particular Asio company, you can leave the Company field blank.
  2. Click Save and Proceed.
  3. You'll be prompted to review your mapped records and are asked if you'd like to proceed. Click Continue.
  4. Click Complete Setup to exit the integration wizard.
