New: Email Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Email 2FA is now available as an alternative to app-based and browser-based authentication. For more information, see our article on two-factor authentication

Other updates

  • When a user or admin signs in after enabling 2FA, there is now a 2FA selection screen to choose between email or app-based authentication.
  • Changes to 2FA are now shown in the Audit log.
  • When enabling or disabling 2FA, there is now a message that appears to confirm the change.

Changes to Two-Factor Authentication requirements

Two-Factor Authentication is no longer required for CrashPlan Essential and Small Business users and can be turned on or off as desired.

Updated CrashPlan app download links

Download links for the latest version of the CrashPlan app now use a new format:

https://host:port/api/v3/download/agent/operating_system


If you've previously saved CrashPlan download links, you'll need to begin using the new links going forward. You can find the updated links in our installation support article.

  • Fixed an issue where 2FA and SSO could both be active for a specific user at the same time.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented user-requested maintenance in rare circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue that created visual errors in the License Plan page for certain users.
  • Fixed an issue with the email backup report feature that excluded certain devices from the report.

  • Fixed an issue where backup size could be calculated and displayed incorrectly for devices using a Microsoft Azure storage destination.
  • Fixed an issue where duplicate file names could appear in the web restore interface.
  • Fixed an issue where a backup archive could become stuck in archive maintenance.

  • Added the tenant.uid command to the CLI, which will show the tenant UID of the current signed-in user. Users must have the system.command_restricted permission to use this command.

One and two year subscription plans are now available for CrashPlan for Small Business. To upgrade to one of these options, go to the License Plan page in the CrashPlan console.

  • When selecting a location for a push restore, CrashPlan now retrieves folder locations more efficiently (resulting in faster performance for browsing and selecting large folders).

  • Fixed an issue where new CrashPlan Essential customers would sometimes be unable to complete account registration.
  • Fixed an issue where new CrashPlan Essential and Professional Customers were not receiving certain email alerts and reports by default.
  • Fixed an issue where deactivated organizations would not be visible in the Deactivated tab of the Organizations list.

  • Fixed an issue where archive hold expiration dates were not appropriately observed and archives would not be purged according to schedule.
  • Fixed an issue where some CrashPlan product plans would receive unintended emails.
  • Fixed an issue where choosing to delay a CrashPlan app update could still result in the CrashPlan app displaying the new version number even though it had not upgraded.
