Enhancements and updates
Introducing CrashPlan Essential and Professional
On November 16th, CrashPlan will introduce two new product tiers - CrashPlan Essential and CrashPlan Professional. Built on the proven backup solution trusted by nearly a million users around the globe, CrashPlan Professional is perfect for individual creators or entrepreneurs and small-to-medium-sized businesses. CrashPlan Essential offers a consumer-style backup solution to protect critical personal files. For more information about these products, visit crashplan.com.
Updates in this cloud release include:
- An updated CrashPlan documentation experience at support.crashplan.com.
- A new console appearance for CrashPlan Essential and Professional.
- Unique feature sets for CrashPlan Essential and Professional.
- Various visual and brand-related updates.
- New and updated infrastructure to support all CrashPlan products.
Other updates
- Added a query parameter to the Device Backup Report API to facilitate a date range for when the device was last backed up. The audit log will now generate events when an organization is moved into or out of a given tenant.
- Removed support for BYOK (Bring Your Own Key).
- Performance enhancements and logging improvements.

Bug fixes
- Fixed various issues pertaining to new product SKU implementation.
- Fixed an issue where backup alert emails were failing to send for Enterprise and Small Business users.
- Fixed an issue where the CrashPlan app would run full synchronizations with a cloud destination too frequently.
- Fixed an issue where administrators reported being unable to add users via text file.

New Multi-Factor Authentication reset option
Administrators and end users are now able to reset Multi-Factor Authentication for their accounts through the web console login page. Users can select “Don’t have your code?” to have an email sent to their user email address, then click the one-time link to log in using their username and password and reconfigure Multi-Factor Authentication.

- Fixed an issue where deactivated users would continue to receive reporting emails.
- Fixed an issue where CrashPlan app installers were not properly displayed in the Client Management area of the web console.
- Fixed an issue where backup alert emails would fail to display the GUID of given devices in the report.
- Fixed an issue where usernames could not be updated using API clients due to a permissions issue.
- Fixed an issue where users were unable to reset their password using the “Forgot Password” link on the login page.

Fixed issues where:
- The Audit Log would display an incorrect value in the Org ID field.
- Attempting to filter the Audit Log by name change would fail.
- The Audit Log would fail to update usernames on the event details screen.
- Clicking “View profile” would take users to the wrong webpage.

Fixed issues where:
- The user received an error message when trying to delete contents of the Add Custodian dialog with the backspace or delete button.
- Some devices were not updating Legal Hold file selections while having a set default file selection.

- Running the purge.path CLI command would return an error.

Bug fixes
January 25, 2023
- Fixed an issue where a legal hold preservation policy with no file selection defined did not collect files as expected in some situations (though files were still available via the backup archive). Now, the preservation policy collects files according to the backup file selection of the custodian’s organization if no file selection is defined.
- Fixed an issue where a user could be forcibly logged out of the CrashPlan app after a push restore job was initiated.
- Fixed an issue where the Activity tab inside a Legal Hold Matter could appear blank.
