Overview

The CrashPlan Dashboards display an in-depth, complete summary of your CrashPlan environment.

For details about all features of the CrashPlan console, see CrashPlan console overview.

 This feature is only available for CrashPlan Enterprise and MSPs

Navigation

There are 4 main dashboards which serve different purposes. These dashboards appear as "tabs" at the top of the dashboard window. You can click on a particular tab to be taken to that section of the dashboard. You can also click on the titles below to be taken to the corresponding section of this reference article.

  • Admin Dashboard - A high-level overview of your environment.
  • Areas of Concern - Configurable reports to identify problem areas in your environment.
  • License consumption - Detailed information about license usage in your environment.
  • Usage - Information about backup storage being used in your environment.

Many areas of the dashboards offer the option to filter or further refine results. To return to default values and views, simply reload the page.

Admin Dashboard

This is the main dashboard you'll see when you first come to the Dashboards area. It's main purpose is to provide a high-level overview of your environment, but you can interact with sections of the dashboard to investigate a particular parameter.

Item Description  
a Last refresh time and date Displays the last time the data on the page was refreshed.
b Hide or show filters Toggle to either hide or show the configurable dashboard filters (e)
c CSV Download Download a dashboard area to a CSV or Excel. You can select a dashboard area (such as Cold Storage) and select either CSV or Excel format to download.
d Dashboard navigation Quickly navigate to one of the other dashboards - Areas of Concern, License Consumption, and Usage.
e Dashboard filters

Filters that change what users and devices are shown in the dashboard areas.

  • Days Since Last Connected
    • Shows only devices that have connected to CrashPlan within the interval specified (1-365 days).
  • Days Since Last Backup
    • Shows only devices that have backed up to CrashPlan within the interval specified (1-365 days).
  • Max Num Computers
    • Show only users that have more devices registered to their account than the interval specified (minimum of 1, no maximum).
  • Small Archive Size (MB)
    • Devices whose archives are smaller than the interval specified in megabytes (no minimum or maximum)
  • User is in Legal Hold Matter
    • (All): All users are shown
    • True: Only users in legal hold matters are shown.
    • False: Only users that are not in legal hold matters are shown.

Note: The values in these filters will affect the Areas of Concern Dashboard. You may need to adjust these values when switching between dashboards.

f Used Licenses

Number of licenses used out of number of licenses purchased.

Hovering over the Used Licenses area will bring up a bar chart showing historical data for licenses used, licenses purchased, and percent of licenses in use.

g Restores

Number of restores performed in your CrashPlan environment and total amount of data restored in terabytes.

Hovering over the Restores area will bring up a bar chart showing historical data for the number of restores and amount of data restored.

h Files Protected Number of discrete files selected for backup in your environment across all users and devices.
i Data Protected

The total size of data backed up in your environment.

Hovering over the Data Protected area will show the average archive size for devices (GB) , as well as the average archive size per user (GB).

j Licensing with Warning/Critical

A pie chart displaying a breakdown of licenses in your environment that have not backed up recently.

  • Backup (Warning Alert): A backup license that has not backed up in x number of days as determined by your organizational reporting settings. This value is 7 days by default.
  • Backup (Critical Alert): A backup license that has not backed up in x number of days as determined by your organizational reporting settings. This value is 14 days by default.
  • Cold Storage: A backup archive that is not backing up, but still consumes a license.

Clicking a license type below the chart will allow you to exclude that license type or show only that license type.

k Cold Storage A chart showing archives in cold storage that is organized by the month the cold storage expires. Clicking on a particular month will change what data is displayed in Cold Storage Details (n).
l Restore by Type

A pie chart displaying a breakdown of restore types in your environment.

  • Client Restore: A restore done through the CrashPlan app by a user or administrator.
  • Push Restore: A restore pushed to a device by a user or administrator.
  • Self Web Restore: A restore initiated by a user or administrator to whom the specified archive belongs.
  • Web Restore for Other: A restore initiated by an administrator on behalf of another user.

Hovering over sections of the pie chart will show the number of restores as well as the number of distinct users who have performed restores.

Clicking a restore type below the chart will allow you to exclude that license type or show only that license type.

m Areas of Concern Report A table showing Areas of Concern in your organization. Some parameters of this report are determined by values entered in the Dashboard Filters (e) area.

n Cold Storage Details

A table showing cold storage license details, which include the month that the archives in cold storage expire, which organization they belong to, their size, and how many users and devices are affected.

o User Role Summary

A table listing types of roles and how many users with those roles exist in your environment.

Areas of Concern

This dashboard is intended to help you quickly identify and address problem areas within your organization.

f Unsupported versions Count of devices running an unsupported version of the CrashPlan app.
g More than x Computers

Count of users with more than x number of devices, where x is the value set in the Dashboard Filters (e).

h No Full Disk Access Count of Mac devices in your environment that do not have full disk access enabled.
i Connected in x days
No Backup in y days
Count of devices which have connected within x days but have not backed up within y days, where x and y are the intervals specified in the Dashboard Filters (e).
j Computers with <x MB stored Count of devices that have an archive size smaller than x, where x is the value in megabytes set in the Dashboard Filters (e).
k Areas of Concern Selector

Selects which areas of concern to display in the Areas of Concern table (n). Areas of concern are governed by the values entered in the Dashboard Filters (e).

l License Type

Selects which license types to display in the Areas of Concern table (n).

  • (All): Show all users in your environment.
  • Backup: Show users with an active Backup license.
  • Cold Storage: Show users with an archive in cold storage.
  • No License: Show users that are not consuming a license.
m Org Name (Wildcard search) Filter the Areas of Concern table (n) by organization name. A specific org name can be entered, or you can use wildcard characters to filter for a subset of organizations.
n Areas of Concern Explorer Detailed information about users and devices that match the criteria entered in the Dashboard Filters (e), Areas of Concern Selector (k), License Type (j), and Org name search (m)

License Consumption

This dashboard is intended to give you an overview of how licenses are being consumed in your organization, as well as their status and history over time.

e Dashboard filters

Filters that change what users and devices are shown in this dashboard.

  • License Type
    • All- Show all users in your environment using a license.
    • Backup (Ok) - Show backup licenses with a current backup.
    • Backup (Warning Alert) - Show backup licenses that have not backed up within the warning alert interval determined by your organizational reporting settings. This setting is 7 days by default.
    • Backup (Critical Alert) - Show users consuming a license with a backup that has not backed up within the critical alert determined by your organizational reporting settings. This setting is 14 days by default.
    • Cold Storage - Show cold storage licenses.
  • User Role Type
    • All- Show all users in your environment.
    • Null - Show users with no role specified.
    • CCA - Show users with the Customer Cloud Admin role.
    • End User - Show users designated as end users.
    • Misc Administrative - Show users with miscellaneous administrative roles, such as SSO and Directory Sync users. These roles are typically not associated with a specific employee or end user.
  • Org Name
    • All - Show all organizations in your CrashPlan environment.
    • (Organization name) - Show only the organization selected. There may be several organizations listed depending on the size of your environment.
f Licenses with Warning/Critical

A pie chart displaying a breakdown of licenses in your environment that have not backed up recently.

  • Backup (OK): A backup license that has backed up recently.
  • Backup (Warning Alert): A backup license that has not backed up in x number of days as determined by your organizational reporting settings. This value is 7 days by default.
  • Backup (Critical Alert): A backup license that has not backed up in x number of days as determined by your organizational reporting settings. This value is 14 days by default.
  • Cold Storage: A backup archive that is not backing up, but still consumes a license.

Clicking a license type below the chart will allow you to exclude that license type or show only that license type.

g User Roles and License Explorer Detailed information about users and devices that match the criteria entered in the Dashboard Filters (e).

Usage

This dashboard is intended to give you an overview of how CrashPlan is used to restore files in your environment, such as how often restores occur, who is restoring, and more.

e Restore Start Date Select a time frame to filter data shown in this dashboard.
f Restore Type

  • Client Restore: A restore done through the CrashPlan app by a user or administrator.
  • Push Restore: A restore pushed to a device by a user or administrator.
  • Self Web Restore: A restore initiated by a user or administrator to whom the specified archive belongs.
  • Web Restore for Other: A restore initiated by an administrator on behalf of another user.

g Data Restored By Time

A bar chart showing restore time frame, restore size, and restore count.

Hovering over a bar will display restore count, distinct user restore count, and time frame.

h Restore by User

Filters the Usage Explorer (m) to display a table of users with detailed restore information for each user entry.

i Restore by Type

Filters the Usage Explorer (m) to display a table of restores by type, with detailed information about license type, time, size, and file count.

j Restores by User Role

Filters the Usage Explorer (m) to display a table of restores by user role, with detailed information about usernames, restore type, restore count, file count, and amount restored.

k Top 10 Users by Number of Restores

Filters the Usage Explorer (m) to display a table of the top ten users in your environment, sorted by username, restore count, file count, and amount restored.

l Top Restore Users by MB Restored

Filters the Usage Explorer (m) to display a table of the top ten users in your environment, sorted by username, restore count, file count, and amount restored.

m Usage Explorer

Detailed information about users, devices, roles, and restores based on the filter selected: Restore by User (h), Restore by Type (i), Restores by User Role (j), Top 10 Users by number of restores (k), and Top Restore Users by MB Restored (l).
