Sign up with newly deployed CrashPlan app for CrashPlan

Overview

Your CrashPlan administrator may have deployed a CrashPlan app to your device. And that app may open on your desktop and prompt you to sign up for a backup account. Follow the instructions in this article.

Sign up

Sign up for your CrashPlan account by following the instructions below. For more information, contact the administrator of your CrashPlan environment.

On Windows and Mac, apps open automatically
On Windows and Mac, the CrashPlan app automatically opens on your desktop. Linux users, run this command:/usr/local/crashplan/bin/CrashPlanDesktop
  1. At the last line on the CrashPlan app interface, click Sign up for an account.

  2. Verify the requested information.
    If your organization uses SSO or LDAP, you must match your SSO or LDAP username.

  3. Click Sign Up.
  4. Provide a First NameLast NamePassword, and Confirm Password.
    If your organization uses SSO or LDAP, you must match your SSO or LDAP password.

  5. Click Sign Up.
    The CrashPlan app displays its home page and begins backing up your data.
