Device Backup Defaults - General settings reference (Small Business)

Overview

This reference guide describes an organization's general backup settings for when and how quickly your devices back up and when alerts are sent.

Access device backup general settings

To view the general device backup settings, choose Device Backup from the navigation menu and click the General tab.

Specify general backup settings in the General section.

Item Description
a User is away when not active for
Windows and Mac only
Number of minutes of inactivity after which the user is considered “away.”
b When user is away, use up to

Percent of CPU to use when user is away.

What does % CPU mean

CPU settings apply to the amount of CPU processing time dedicated to CrashPlan app work, not to total CPU processing capacity. Therefore, while % CPU may be set at 20, for example, a system monitor may show that 70% of CPU capacity is used for the CrashPlan app at a particular point in time.

c When user is present, use up to

Windows and Mac only

Percent of CPU to use when user is not away.

d Stop when battery reaches

Windows and Mac only
Pause backup when remaining battery power is below this level.
e Push Applies these settings to existing users in addition to new users.

 

Alerts

Send Warning and Critical alerts based on number of days since a device reported any backup activity to the CrashPlan cloud.

Item Description
a Not backed up for (Warning) The number of days since last backup activity after which the user receives a Warning message. This is the last of the two messages sent by CrashPlan for Small Business.
b Not backed up for (Critical) The number of days since last backup activity after which the user receives a Critical message. This is the first of two messages sent by CrashPlan for Small Business.
c Push Applies these settings to existing users in addition to new users.
