Overview

Version 4.4.0 of the CrashPlan app is a minor release that includes a small number of enhancements and fixes. All CrashPlan apps that connect to the Code42 cloud will be upgraded over several days, beginning on September 21, 2015.

Fixes and enhancements

  • Security updates.
  • Performance and stability improvements.
  • The minimum required Java version for the CrashPlan app is now 1.7.
  • On OS X, the minimum required version for the CrashPlan app is now version 10.7.5.
  • Improves performance of the real-time file watcher on Windows devices when renaming large numbers of files.
  • Corrects an issue on Windows devices introduced in version 4.3.0 in which the CrashPlan tray app (the CrashPlan icon in the notification area) is dimmed and disabled when the CrashPlan app is installed in a folder other than the default location.
  • Corrects an issue on OS X devices introduced in version 4.3.0 in which the CrashPlan uninstaller included in the .dmg could only uninstall CrashPlan one time. Now, the same uninstaller can be used more than once.

Maintenance update 4.4.1

  • Critical security updates.
  • Corrects an issue in which upgrading to version 4.4.0 of the Windows CrashPlan app could cause logging on the device to stop.
  • Corrects an issue introduced in version 4.4.0 in which the CrashPlan menu bar did not open on devices running OS X version 10.7.

Announcing Mac OS X version 10.6 Snow Leopard retirement

With the release of version 4.4, Code42 is announcing retirement of support for Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard. That means that, going forward, Code42 will no longer develop for, test, or maintain our products on Mac OS X Snow Leopard. New versions of our products released after September 2015 will not support Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Additionally, the End of Support date for Mac OS X Snow Leopard is scheduled for March 31, 2016.

Known issues

  • On Windows devices, if a file is locked and a copy is therefore backed up via VSS, some file metadata may not be backed up.
  • If the CrashPlan app is open when upgrading to version 4.4, the app does not automatically reopen after upgrading.
  • Installing per user on a Windows device does not create a CrashPlan app shortcut on the Desktop.
