The menu bar offers Mac users quick access to basic CrashPlan operations.
To launch the menu bar:
- Open the CrashPlan app.
- Select Settings > General.
- Click Launch.
Menu bar options
To access the menu bar options, click the CrashPlan icon in the top right of the screen.
|a||Backup status details||Indicates backup in progress or when next backup is scheduled to occur. Click "i" icon to show or hide details about number and size of files being backed up.|
|b||Backup progress||Progress bar indicates completion status of backup.|
|c||Start/pause backup||Click to start or pause backup.|
|d||Pause||Select a temporary time period to pause backups, ranging from one hour to one day. Pausing prevents inbound and outbound backup, meaning that you can't restore or back up while paused.|
|e||Show CrashPlan...||Opens the CrashPlan app.|
|f||Manage account online...||Opens your account settings.|
|g||Preferences...||Select preferences for menu bar appearance and behavior.|
|h||Quit||Quits the CrashPlan app and the CrashPlan menu bar.|

Access the menu bar preferences from the menu bar options.

Unchecked - Launch CrashPlan menu bar from the desktop
|b||Transfer Rate||Effective - Displays transfer rate that includes compression and data de-duplication
Actual - Displays transfer rate without accounting for compression and data de-duplication
CrashPlan dock icon
On Macs, a small lock displays on the CrashPlan app icon in your dock. That's because, in order for CrashPlan to work properly, it must be installed in the Applications folder. The lock next to this icon indicates that the application cannot be moved.
