We are the offsite data storage for our customers. We store our customers' data in highly secure data center facilities around the world.
Because CrashPlan offers multi-destination onsite and offsite backup (and we're the only ones who do), we highly recommend that you back up your data to multiple locations. It is not a good idea to trust your data to one location, so for the best protection, please back up to a local USB drive and/or a friend as well as our servers.
Backing up to multiple locations not only offers the kind of redundancy that makes for better backup, it also gives you more options for restoring your files faster and more conveniently. For example, the fastest Internet connection is not nearly as fast as a USB drive that is directly connected. If your computer's hard drive fails and you need your data fast, you will get your data back much faster from a USB drive or a friend's computer, using guest restore to a USB drive that you take home with you.
